Terry C. Anderson President 2007-2008

Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Madison.
Rotary Club of
Madison, Club 71, was chartered in 1913 and has 500+ members. We are part of
Rotary International, a service club association that includes approximately
32,000 Rotary clubs, with 1.2 million members, in 168 countries. Rotary Club
of Madison is among the 10 largest clubs in the world and has an associated
Foundation that is one of the largest endowment funds.
Also known as
"Downtown Rotary" our club has a deep commitment to serving people in the
Madison community and throughout the world. Each year we donate nearly
$500,000 in educational scholarships, youth awards and grants for local and
international projects. Last year alone, 53 not-for-profit organizations in
the Madison community benefited from these grants.
In addition to the
substantial dollars raised and distributed each year, Downtown Rotarians are
involved in a multitude of hands-on projects. Members paint houses, donate
blood, ring Salvation Army Bells and raise awareness for a variety of
activities and social issues. We strive to enhance the quality of life in
the Greater Madison Area.
Beyond its
philanthropy, the Rotary Club of Madison is a unique and valuable asset to
the Madison community because of the high quality of its weekly programs.
The club's size and membership attract distinguished speakers who are among
the best in their fields. Each Wednesday, Rotarians and guests are treated
to timely topics from local, state, national, and international speakers of
renown. In addition, the Rotary Club of Madison provides election forums for
state and local candidates. These weekly programs are regularly carried by
city cable television for rebroadcast. This coverage provides our community
with an asset for all its citizens, as well as club members.
Above all, the
camaraderie of our club is what makes it special. We sing, we laugh, and we
make a difference. Meetings are held each Wednesday noon at the
Inn on the Park,
located on the Capitol Square in Madison, WI. We welcome visiting Rotarians
to join us for lunch.
